Lewis "Getting in Good Trouble" Summer Scholarship Recipient

Riley Pettway is a rising senior at the esteemed Bergen Arts & Science Charter School who is dually enrolled at Passaic County Community College, planning to major in Criminal Justice. During her time in high school, she has become a school ambassador, a member of the National Honors Society and Student Government, and is a participant in the Pathways to College Program. Outside of academics, Riley has volunteered at her local food pantry, and interned under a Judge in the Superior Court of Essex County (Criminal Division). She has also explored the dietary, emotional, and social aspects of mental health in conjunction with college planning at the Delta G.E.M.S Academy.

Riley is honored to have been awarded the Lewis Getting in Good Trouble Summer Scholarship. Her dedication to law and social justice has been nurtured and is now flourishing through the opportunity provided by the Lewis Registry, fueling her passion to make a meaningful impact on today’s society. She looks forward to gaining a better understanding of the systems and policies, relating to law and community; under the mentorship of Dr. Salinas and Dr. Mines. In many ways her journey has just begun, but she is committed to this program and beyond grateful to be a part of this team.
